They may not be ready to unleash a trailer just yet – though we doubt it’ll be too long before one arrives – but the team behind The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 are at least prepared to give us a look at Julianne Moore as President Alma Coin, plus a video interview with Moore (see below) and a roundtable chat with director Francis Lawrence, writer Peter Craig and producer Nina Jacobson.
It’s very much your standard promo material: lots of the cast and crew speaking highly of each other, basically. But you do at least learn that Craig has taken over script duties on set for last-minute re-writes from Danny Strong, who moved on to other commitments before shooting began. Oh, and from the sounds of the effort involved, shooting both parts of the final Hunger Games story is quite a mammoth undertaking.
As for the films – which are adapted from Suzanne Collins’ third book – they chronicle the story of the rebellion against President Snow and his haute couture regime reaching its boiling point and frothing over into all-out war, inspired by the example of Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss and her (largely accidental) defiance of the regime during the murderous Hunger Games.
Returning Games veterans Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Paula Malcomson, Willow Shields, Elizabeth Banks and Stanley Tucci will all feature, while new arrivals Natalie Dormer, Gwendoline Christie and Moore are just a part of the cast for the films, with Part One out on November 21 and Part Two due November 20 next year.
