First Look At Jude Law And John Malkovich In The New Pope

The New Pope

Following word that 2016's The Young Pope, which found Jude Law as a decidedly less crusty and more controversial pontiff would be a limited series, we wondered whether Law would return for Paolo Sorrentino's follow-up series The New Pope. From the looks of the first image from the new show, he's certainly still around in some capacity even as John Malkovich stars.

Despite the picture release, HBO is keeping most of the details under its cassock, and we don't yet know how Law's Lenny Belardo/Pope Pius XIII will interact with Malkovich's character, and whether it will follow directly on with the story of The Young Pope. There does, however, appear to be a big clue in the return of actors Silvio Orlando, Javier Cámara, Cécile de France, Ludivine Sagnier, and Maurizio Lombardi, while Henry Goodman, Ulrich Thomsen, Mark Ivanir and Massimo Ghini are the new hires.

There's no word yet on when this might hit screens either side of the pond, so not all your prayers have been answered.
