On his official site Rob Cohen has posted the first image of Jet Li in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (that title always looks like it should have 'Curse' in there somewhere. Anyway). You can see an enormous version of this if you click the image below or an even enormouser version here.
In the film, Li plays an all new Mummy, a shape-shifting Chinese Emperor on a quest to achieve immortality. He is currently shooting his part on location in China (the rest of the movie shot on soundstages in Montreal).
Cohen also posted a snippet on his blog about the soundtrack to the movie. He said:
"As to the music: guys, trust me. Randy and I have done two classic scores (DRAGON: THE BRUCE LEE STORY and DRAGONHEART) that continue to be used in trailers and commercials a decade and a half later. This will be an original score with new themes, played by the London Symphony Orchestra recorded at Abbey Road Studios. There will nothing “synth paddy” about it. It will be massive, thematic, and pulsing. I have great respect for Al Silvestri but this is a new, re-booted “Mummy” and it will have the score to match."
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is out on August 1, 2008.
