UPDATE: To the dancefloor, one and all. The first trailer for Office Christmas Party has landed, offering the yule-timate in festive chaos... at least, since Bad Santa last sidled drunkenly into his grotto. Watch it below.
It’s all about T.J. Miller at the moment. In between a busy-looking slate that includes Silicon Valley, a new Spielberg film, the new Transformers, a lead role in the Emoji Movie and Deadpool’s next adventure, the Teej also has a white-collar comedy called Office Christmas Party on the horizon. USA Today has debuted three new stills from the film, and you can see them below.
The movie has Miller playing tech company president Clay Vanstone. The business is struggling and his ruthless sibling (Jennifer Aniston), who also happens to be CEO, is circling with a big metaphorical scythe, looking to make swingeing cuts to the payroll.
The company’s founder, the pair's dad, recently passed away, leaving power up for grabs. Who will grab the reins? Will it be Miller’s Clay and his close confederate at the company (Jason Bateman), with whom he organises the titular party to help raise morale and score a big new client?
“When you spend such a large portion of your life working — and it’s not fun, and you’re worried about getting sued or fired for saying the wrong thing or for acting crazy at a work party — then what has work done to America?” Miller ponders in USA Today. “That’s the impetus to have a huge office Christmas party.” Judging by the stills, it will be exactly that. Big.
Other staffers along to help chug kegs include Kate McKinnon, Jamie Chung, Olivia Munn, Matt Walsh and Courtney B. Vance.
The idea originally came from Guymon Casady, and this one has been floating in the development tank since 2010. Timothy Dowling has written the script and Blades Of Glory duo Josh Gordon and Will Speck have co-directed.
Office Christmas Party lands in UK cinemas on December 9.
