Having made his name as a shut-in in Room, Jacob Tremblay will next be a shut-in in Shut In, a new film about a shut in, presumably in some sort of room. Here’s our first look at the psychological thriller, which stars Tremblay alongside Naomi Watts.
Now at the ripe old age of 9, the career of the child star and gif favourite is going from strength to strength. Here, as he tells USA Today, he plays the foster child of a child psychologist (Watts), in danger of a “bad guy trying to kill them,” Tremblay explained.
"I had to act scared a lot with Jack [in Room]. But I had to act scared [in Shut In] most of the time," Tremblay says. "Tom's a dark character. Not Batman dark. But he's scared, has rings under his eyes and looks creepy."
Tremblay also spoke highly of his grown-up co-star Watts, with his trademark politeness and honesty. "She's been in a lot of cool movies like King Kong," he said. "And she was really nice to me on set."
Directed by Farren Blackburn (best known for TV work in his native Britain, including Doctor Who), from an original script by Christina Hodson, Shut In arrives in cinemas on November 11.
