Nightflyers

Thanks to Game Of Thrones, we've gotten used to George R.R. Martin's work being chock full of deaths. For this adaptation of his 1980 sci-fi novella Nightflyers, it's business as usual.

Nightflyers takes place in the future on the eve of Earth's destruction. A crew of explorers journey on the most advanced ship in the galaxy, The Nightflyer, to intercept a mysterious alien spacecraft that might hold the key to their survival. As the crew nears their destination, they discover that the ship's artificial intelligence and never-seen captain may be steering them into deadly and unspeakable horrors deep in the dark reaches of space.

So... yes, given that Martin describes the story as "a haunted house in space", expect screaming, blood and existences snuffed out. The novella was previously adapted for the big screen in 1987, but this time it's on TV, via the SyFy channel in the states and Netflix here.

The likes of Gretchen Mol, Eoin Macken, Angus Sampson and Phillip Rhys are in the cast, probably having checked their contracts for an expiration date. Nightflyers will be haunting the stars in the autumn.
