He might not have stuck around beyond the first season of True Detective, but Cary Fukunaga has found a new TV project to channel his skills into. He's the main director behind Maniac, which stars Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, and you can find the first images on this very page.
Maniac is still mostly under wraps, though we do know it's adapted from the 2014 Nordic series of the same name, which follows a guy who lives as a hero in his fantasy life in order to escape the mundane reality that he's actually locked up in an institution. The official plot synopsis for the show, released at the same time as the images by Netflix, simply reads, "Maniac is the story of two strangers who find themselves caught up in a mind-bending pharmaceutical trial gone awry".
There's a definite hint of the wackiness of Legion about the colourful imagery on display here, and we're pleased to see Justin Theroux bringing his offbeat sensibility to one of the other characters.
We'd expect a trailer to follow soon enough, and while there has been no date announcement yet, the series should be hitting Netflix this year.
