Valentine's Day is supposed to put one in a romantic mood, so what better day for Joker: Folie À Deux co-writer/director Todd Phillipsto debut the first proper look at Lady Gaga alongside Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur Fleck presumably in a romantic moment. A psychotic romantic moment, likely, but it's the thought that counts.
The Joker sequel has been cranking its cameras for a while now, but keeping its story a mystery besides featuring the continued chaos of Arthur, who ended up in Arkham Asylum at the end of the first movie, but is unlikely to let that stop him from planning more madness.
And with the addition of Gaga – reportedly playing this universe's version of Harley Quinn (though that is not official yet) – there will be a strong musical element this time around.
Zazie Beetz is back as Sophie Dumond, while the cast also includes Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener and Jacob Lofland.
Co-written again by Scott Silver, Joker: Folie À Deux is due in cinemas on 4 October 2024.
