Mary Elizabeth Winstead burnished her action credentials in films such as Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and more recently in Birds Of Prey. Yet new Netflix thriller Kate looks to move her to a whole new level. Check out the first images from the film above and in the gallery lower down the page.
Kate, directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan (The Huntsman: Winter's War) from a script by Umair Aleem, finds Winstead as the title character, a ruthless criminal operative who discovers that she has been irreversibly poisoned. With a 24-hour ticking clock until she expires, Kate decides to exact bloody revenge on her enemies – but doesn't expect to also form a bond with the daughter of one of her past victims. Will she learn moral lessons? Or will she (more likely) just go around dealing out brutal vengeance.

It sounds like a throwback thriller with echoes of Dennis Quaid pic D.O.A. and something along the lines of Crank. Tadanobu Asano, Miyavi, Michiel Huisman and Woody Harrelson co-star in the movie, which Netflix intends to release in the autumn.
