It is a truth universally acknowledged that sooner or later every studio, production company or, in this case, streaming service will eventually adapt a Jane Austen story. Today it's the turn of Netflix, which has its version of Persuasion on the way and has debuted some initial images.
Starring Dakota Johnson, Cosmo Jarvis, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Richard E. Grant and Henry Golding, Persuasion adapts Austen's novel about a young woman named Anne Elliot.
Living with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy, she is a non-conforming woman with modern sensibilities. When Frederick Wentworth – the dashing one she let get away – crashes back into her life, Anne must choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances.
