Film festival season is in full swing – Sundance is happening right now – and looking ahead to next month, the Berlin Film Festival is locking down its screening programme. Steven Soderbergh's latest, Unsane has been added to the list, and the first picture from the film, which stars The Crown's Claire Foy, is online.
The actress, who is currently best known for playing the Queen in the series, will be a a woman sent to a mental institution, even though it's not clear whether her greatest fear is all to real or a delusion. Soderbergh shot the film in around a week all on an iPhone.
Berlin's fest has now selected all but one of its 24 competition films, and while Unsane won't directly compete for one of its traditional Gold and Silver Bears, films such as Museo, starring Gael Garcia Bernal, will be in contention. Also recently added alongside Unsane are hijack thriller 7 Days In Entebbe (known here simply as Entebbe) and Ang panahon ng halimaw from the Philippines, which translates as Season Of The Devil. The festival runs between 15 February and 25 February.
