First Dredd Poster Arrives

Though we suppose Lionsgate and the team behind Dredd have been waiting for the bigger guns such as Prometheus, The Avengers and a certain Mr Batman to get out of the way in terms of advertising, it is a little puzzling as to why we’ve seen zero seconds of footage from the film. No teasers, no trailers for trailers and not even a clip. But while that situation hasn’t changed, there is at least an official **Dredd **poster online now, courtesy of JoBlo. Check it out along with a couple of new stills in the gallery below.

Dredd, of course, adapts John Wagner’s 2000AD creation for what promises to be a much harder-edged film than the 1995 Sylvester Stallone effort.

In this case, Karl Urban plays the gruff lawman, who serves in the sprawling Mega City One. Venturing into one of the city’s huge tower blocks, he’s soon fighting for his life alongside new recruit Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) against scheming crime boss Madeline 'Ma-Ma' Madrigal (Lena Headey) and her goons.

With Alex Garland writing the script and Pete Travis directing, Dredd is scheduled to hit on September 7. We’re hopeful that the stills look like they’ve been culled from a trailer, so we’ll see something soon.
