Though we’ve so far seen him at a distance or from the back, Paul Bettany’s take on the Avengers: Age Of Ultron android character The Vision is one of the less-showcased elements of the superhero sequel so far. That has seemingly changed thanks to Instagram user Israel06, who spotted a new banner for the film at an international Disney promotional event and snapped a couple of images.
In the comics, The Vision’s back story is closely linked with that of Ultron, the villain voiced and performance-captured by James Spader for Joss Whedon’s movie. Originally created by Ultron as another weapon to take down the heroes, he overcomes his programming and ends up becoming a key part of the team.
And from the looks of the poster, he seems to have fit right in with the rest of the Avengers, including Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Chris Evans' Captain America and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye. We know the film will see the team face off against Ultron, his robotic drones and, initially at least, the brother-sister team of Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), but exactly how The Vision will factor into remains to be seen.
With Andy Serkis, Samuel L. Jackson and Stellan Skarsgård plus some other names we’ll leave in spoiler territory for now, Avengers: Age Of Ultron is set to hit our cinemas on April 24.
