It seems like only yesterday that director Peyton Reed announced the start of principal photography on Ant-Man. Just 24 hours later and USA Today has nabbed the first official photograph from the production. Looking moody and injured (loving the eyebrow bandages), it's our first look at Paul Rudd in character as Scott Lang.
In case your detective skills aren't up to much, the superhero movie is filming in San Francisco. In this first image, we can see Lang hanging about beneath the Golden Gate Bridge all on his lonesome. Presumably Jimmy Stewart and some marauding apes are just out of shot. There's no sign yet of Rudd in costume, nor of Michael Douglas as his mentor and Ant-Man originator, Hank Pym, but it's only the first day of shooting so we'll allow them a few days more before we start champing at the bit.
**Ant-Man **will tell the tale of Scott Lang, a criminal and former con man who is taken in by Dr. Hank Pym. Pym has a brilliant invention that allows a man to become the size of an ant while increasing his strength hugely. With this, the two men have to pull off a huge heist in order to save the world.
The film is, of course, part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and represents another big gamble for the studio. After Guardians Of The Galaxy hit the box office big time, Marvel will be crossing their wealthy fingers and toes that this one does the same. Edgar Wright's departure earlier this year earned them some very rare negative publicity, but the film is still on track for a release on July 15, 2015.
