Though Hobbs & Shaw is already on the way this year, pushing the boundary for quite how much testosterone can seep from the screen, Vin Diesel and the other producers of the Fast & Furious franchise have had other plans for spin-off for a while. One will be focused on female characters, and it has a trio of writers now aboard. Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer will handle the script.

Diesel broke the news on his channel of choice, Instagram, talking up how he hatched the idea for a female spin-off in 2017 and welcoming the three new writers to the family. He's clearly a little more enthusiastic about this than he is the Rock-driven film already on the way.

Perlman, Robertson-Dworet and Beer have forged successful writing careers in Hollywood, scripting the likes of Captain Marvel, the still-developing Black Widow solo outing, Tomb Raider and Chaos Walking. They've also formed a production company, Known Universe, to develop projects.

No other details were offered about this second spin-off, but expect it to bubble along in development as the script is written. Hobbs & Shaw (apparent full title Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw), meanwhile, will arrive on 26 July.
