If you've spotted cars falling out of buildings – as one Twitterer did, to their understandable surprise – chances are you’ll know that Fast & Furious 8 has begun filming. Star and series producer Vin Diesel has marked the occasion with the first photo of the new cast posted to his Instagram feed.
It’s not a still from the movie, or even an professionally photographed snap from the publicity department, but it gives us a good idea of what the billion-dollar franchise now looks like in its post-Paul Walker era.
For those counting, that’s actually 11 cast members pictured – featuring (from left to right) Jason Statham, Kristofer Hivju, Kurt Russell, Tyrese Gibson, Charlize Theron, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Scott Eastwood and Dwayne Johnson.
Most of the cast are returning from earlier entries in the series. Newcomers include Theron as new baddie Cipher; magnificently-bearded Hivju (venturing south of the Wall from Game Of Thrones) as her henchman; plus Eastwood as Kurt Russell’s protegé.
F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) is calling the shots on the crazy stunts and family barbeques this time around, and filming will be taking place in Cleveland, New York, Iceland and Cuba. It’ll be revving into cinemas on April 14, 2017.
