After a long period of waiting while cinemas were closed, we know many of you are eager to see something big, bombastic and full of vehicular mayhem. There's good news on that front, especially if you also enjoy gravelly talk of family, clinking bottles of Corona and scenarios where the laws of physics no longer apply: Fast & Furious 9 is moving up its UK release date from July to June.

This latest entry in the sprawling franchise finds Vin Diesel's Dom Toretto, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and son little Brian living off the grid. But because a Fast film wouldn't really work if it was just two hours of Dom fixing a tractor, the next big threat and dangerous mission is just around the corner.

Dom's crew must join together again to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena). Cue family revelations, big chases and more uses of magnets than a school physics lab.

Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel and Sung Kang are among those back for the latest ride, which has veteran director Justin Lin also involved. It'll now drive into UK cinemas on 24 June, one day ahead of the US launch. And the movie has already opened in some countries, where it is breaking pandemic box office records.
