Colin Farrell, the Irish actor who went from Ballykissangel to Hollywood, looks set to join Tom Cruise for Steven Spielberg's latest project, Minority Report. Farrell, whose first lead film role was in Joel Schumacher's Tigerland last year, will be taking over from Matt Damon, who had to drop out due to the production's delayed start. The film is based on a Philip K. Dick short story about a future society where murderers are arrested before they kill, thanks to a way of predicting crimes. A cop (Cruise) who is responsible for apprehending the 'murderers' finds himself on the receiving end when another officer (Farrell) begins to hunt him for a crime that he has yet to commit. Farrell will begin shooting on Minority Report directly after finishing Hart's War with Bruce Willis for Frequency director Gregory Hoblit. He also recently completed Phone Booth, again for Joel Schumacher, about a man who must remain on the telephone, or be shot by a sniper.
