Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess and Saoirse Ronan are now on **The Way Back **with Peter Weir, in a true-life story of soldiers who fought to escape a Gulag (that's Soviet labour camp to all non-Russian speakers) in Siberia.

Set in 1942, the script is based on the memoirs of Slavomir Rawicz, and was written by Weir, who hasn't been seen on our screens since he directed Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World.

Farrell - who is up for a Golden Globe on Sunday for his performance in In Bruges, and recently stepped in for the late Heath Ledger in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus- is set to play a tattooed Russian hard man prisoner. Harris - who is fresh from directing and starring in Apaloosa- will stick to what he knows in playing an American; and the ubiquitous Sturgess (21 -** and later this year in 50 Dead Men Walking and **Heartless) will portray a young Pole. The fugitives are then joined by a fleeing young Russian, played by Ronan, who has just finished shooting The Lovely Bones with Peter Jackson.

The film will begin production in March in Bulgaria.
