You know, we have an audio record in Empire Towers of our own Chris Hewitt confidently predicting that Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer will be the best film ever. While we're still pretty sure that that declaration was the result of a bad steak, we're nevertheless hoping that this sequel, with the arrival of the shiniest dude ever to cut a cosmic tube, will be better than the first effort for the superhero team. And sure enough, the teaser trailer (here) makes it look rather tasty indeed.
Basically a snippet of what we're guessing is an even longer action scene, this sees the nuptials of Mr Fantastic (Ioan Gruffudd) and Invisible Girl (Jessica Alba) interrupted by the appearance of a shiny meteor in the sky. Surprisingly, this wasn't sent by Jessica's many fans, desperate to persuade Alba not to go through with it (although that would make for a terribly post-modern twist) but the arrival of the very powerful, very mysterious, very mirrored Silver Surfer. Johnny Storm (Chris Evans) sets off in pursuit, only to...well, watch the trailer.
It's not quite perfect yet, and there are moments when the Surfer effects look a bit formless and T-1000, but on this evidence we're quite a bit more excited than we were about this sequel. Roll on June 15.
