There’s a mere 98 days until Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, the first spin-off from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter universe, is released – but a new cast member has just been announced: Zoë Kravitz has joined the film.
It’s quite unusual for a cast member to be announced this late in the day, especially when most of the filming has now been completed, and two trailers (see here and here) have been released. According to sources for The Hollywood Reporter, Kravitz joined the film after filming had begun.
However, there is apparently a possibility that her character is being set up for the sequel, which is already in development and is aiming for a November 2018 release date.
Kravitz (daughter of Lenny) has been building a pretty solid catalogue of roles in recent years, including a memorable turn as one of Immortan Joe’s Five Wives in Mad Max: Fury Road. She joins a swelling Fantastic Beasts cast that already includes Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller and Colin Farrell.
Rowling wrote the script for the film from her own novella, while Potter veteran David Yates is directing. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them magics its way into cinemas on November 18 this year.
