Sizzling Mediterranean locales. Desire, jealousy and sexual intrigue. Not the set of EastEnders Does Tenerife as you might be thinking, but instead the tantalizing elements offered by Luca Guadagnino's latest, A Bigger Splash, which has hit the pool with a new trailer.
The new film from the director of I Am Love finds Tilda Swinton as rocker Marianne Lane heading for a remote Italian island hideaway with lover Paul (Matthias Schoenaerts) to give her vocal chords some rest and enjoy fun in the sun.
But her planned holiday is disrupted when her old friend, producer and former flame Harry Hawkes (Ralph Fiennes) tracks her down, and crashes the party with his beautiful daughter Penelope (Dakota Johnson). Soon old passions and tensions are simmering, everyone is tempted by something forbidden and trouble is brewing as the villa's pool waters become choppier.
Having premiered at the London Film Festival last October, A Bigger Splash will make its way to general release in the UK on February 12. Not exactly swimsuit weather, unless you make a habit of wearing flip-flops to cinemas in winter.
