Originally expected to fly on to Disney+ in August, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, which reunites Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes, was hit with pandemic shooting delays with several weeks of filming left to complete. With the team back in production, there has been space to add up-and-coming actor Danny Ramirez.
In true Marvel and Disney fashion, we don't yet know how he'll factor into the series, which will see the Falcon and the Winter Soldier tackling the likes of Daniel Brühl's Zemo and Wyatt Russell's John Walker (also known as US Agent, who feels he should be the one to inherit Captain America's mantle, not Sam) while reuniting with Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp). The Hollywood Reporter has learned, though, that Ramirez' role will be pivotal.
The series should now be on TV screens next year. As for Ramirez, he has Marvel form (albeit the Fox TV variant) via The Gifted and will be on the big screen in 2021 as part of the cast of Top Gun: Maverick.
