Star Wars: The Force Awakens

The old guard of Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie and the gang will be represented as Star Wars continues, but J.J. Abrams’ focus is definitely on the new generation, including Daisy Ridley’s Rey, John Boyega’s Finn and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron. Rey in particular is the star of a new TV spot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

While Abrams might have preferred to go with a couple of teasing trailers and leave it at that, the marketing onslaught continues with all the force (lower case F, except possibly for Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren) of a First Order attack.

There are some new fleeting shots, mostly of Rey (and what sounds like Lupita Nyong'o's Maz Kanata talking to her), but also of X-Wings in action and other moments from the movie, so of course those of you wishing to stay footage pure for the few weeks remaining until the film’s December 17 UK release can avoid it. We would expect to see plenty more spots as the film’s arrival screeches towards us, as Lucasfilm and Disney’s PR bods look to promote the movie beyond the fans who have been hinging on every snippet of footage and each poster. The big question now is just how much money will this thing make?
