White House Down

The real-life White House and its main occupant have their share of problems, but at least the place doesn’t have to deal with Roland Emmerich trying to take it apart piece by piece. In movie land, however, that’s exactly the issue as Channing Tatum’s cop faces down domestic terrorists to try to save Jamie Foxx’s President. The new, extended trailer for the action thriller White House Down is online at Apple.

With the fixtures and fittings only just repaired after Antoine Fuqua and Gerard Butler got through damaging them in Olympus Has Fallen, here comes Emmerich's effort, which sees a heavily armed paramilitary group led by Jason Clarke taking over the place.

As America’s government falls into chaos, it’s up to military veteran and Washington DC cop John Cale (Tatum) – who has just been denied his dream job working for the Secret Service – to rescue both his daughter (Joey King) and the leader of the free world (Foxx).

Written by James Vanderbilt, the film promises a lot of boom for the bucks spent recreating the White House on a Montreal sound stage and plenty of banter between Tatum and Foxx. Can this second shot at Die Hard In The White House** **outperform the first we’ve seen this year? The US will find out on June 28, while the UK will have to wait until September 6.
