Exclusive: Rob Schneider talks Big Stan

As anyone who saw the gloriously guilty pleasure that was Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo knows, no taboo is too large for Rob Schneider.

So it's only natural that his next film should be about male rape - and the fear thereof. Big Stan, which follows the adventures of Schneider's nervy con man as he gets sent to prison and bulks up in an attempt to avoid being violated in the showers, will also mark Schneider's directorial debut.

As luck would have it, we spoke to The Schneid about the project recently, and he was on enthusiastic form. "It's a movie about a guy who's going to prison but he's desperately afraid of being raped in prison," he said. "That's the whole premise of the film and it's really funny. It's really painfully funny.

"He gets trained by the Master, so when he gets to prison, he finds the biggest guy and kicks his ass, so he doesn't get bugged. Then he has a no rape conference where he's like 'stop the gay rape!' It's an edgy little film, I can't wait to make it."

Eagle-eyed Schneider watchers will note that the movie - written by Simpsons scribe, Josh Lieb - is not attached to a studio (Schneider's deal with Sony elapsed with Deuce 2), nor is it a Happy Madison production, the first time in a long while that Schneider won't be working with his old mate, Adam Sandler.

"I wanna make some independent films. I'm out of the studio. No more Happy Madison," he told us. "I want to be separate now and not have to deal with anybody's notes, including Adam Sandler's. I love the guy, but I want to show him the movie when it's done and hope he'll be proud of it."

However, edgy though the R-rated movie may be, Schneider has already acquiesced over one thing: the title. Initially, he planned to call it Big Stan aka Unrapeable. "I don't know if I want to keep that title, because no women will go and see it," he admitted. "How do you get women to see Unrapeable?" Looks like we won't get a chance to find out.

Big Stan should be in cinemas by the end of 2006.
