Besides peeking out from behind an iPad (other tablets are available), little has been seen of Renée Zellweger's return to the screen as the winsome Ms. Jones. Although the film's title delivers a sizeable clue, motherhood looks like the last thing on Bridget's mind if the exclusive image below is anything to go by.
Eleven years ago, Mark Darcy proposed to Bridget in The Edge Of Reason and it looked like they would live happily ever after. But 2013 delivered a third novel (Mad About The Boy) that saw Darcy bumped off and his widow left raising two small children.
Thankfully, Bridget Jones's Baby won't broach that sombre subject. In fact, it's a new story entirely, penned by original author Helen Fielding and David Nicholls (Starter For 10, Far From The Madding Crowd) that takes place between the events of the second and third books. Darcy's skin may be saved, but Patrick Dempsey will be filling the Daniel Cleaver-sized holed left by an absent Hugh Grant.
"I'm so happy," Zellweger told Empire about the return of Bridget Jones's Diary director Sharon Maguire. "There's nothing better in the whole world than pulling off a silly stunt and hearing her laugh from behind the camera. I always feel that whenever I see her, that the character of Bridget is alive, existing somewhere right between the two of us."
