With Our Kind Of Traitor following in swift succession to the BBC’s The Night Manager, John Le Carré adaptations feel a lot like buses at the moment. Big secret buses filled with spies, dodgy arms dealers and Mafia types, but buses all the same. The former takes one of the great espionage writer’s more topical novels to the big screen. Here’s a new clip to offer a flavour of what it has in store.
To set the scene, Ewan McGregor and Naomie Harris are a married couple who have returned to London with a USB stick that’s of great interest to Damian Lewis’ MI6 agent, Hector. It was given to them by a Russian businessman called Dimi Krasnov (Stellan Skarsgård) when they met on holiday in Marrakech. Dimi, it turns out, is "the world's number one money launderer” and is on the Russian mafia’s extensive kill list.
Guess what? The USB stick doesn't contain holiday snaps and an illegally downloaded All Saints album, but a whole lot of info that could either bring down the mafia's kingpin or get all of them killed.
With Susanna White behind the camera, Our Kind Of Traitor will be out in the UK on May 13. Head here to watch the trailer in full.
