A shady, heady sex club where anything can happen and danger lurks just around the corner sounds like the setting for a cheesy ‘80s thriller. But with Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor on board and a quality team of writers behind the script, The Tourist should be something a little less likely to star Shannon Tweed.

Jackman was announced as starring during Cannes, but now McGregor has packed his bags and will join Wolverine in the film from new director Marcel Langenegger.

The story sees a burned-out accountant named Jonathan (McGregor) searching for something to spice up his life. He finds it via new friend Wyatt (Jackman), who introduces him to a spicy establishment called The List, with sex on tap. Sadly for our hero, he’s just found the beautiful woman he’s always been dreaming about when he’s plunged into a nightmare of crime. The lovely lady vanishes, and Jonathan is fingered as a possible murder suspect. Oh, and he’s also charged with stealing $20 million.

Thankfully, this isn’t a Joe Eszterhas special – it features a script by Closer’s Patrick Marber and Constantine’s Mark Bomback, who wrote it with Jason Keller. The production cranks up in New York in October.
