”My name is Hercule Poirot, and I am probably the greatest detective in the world.” Humble, too! With that grand entrance, we are introduced to Kenneth Branagh's new take on the classic Agatha Christie character, as he attempts to solve his most famous case. The first trailer for Murder On The Orient Express has arrived – take a look below.
Branagh (who also directs) plays the perennial private dick Poirot, here sporting the most magnificent cinematic moustache in memory. He has assembled around him a star-studded cast of screen legends and rising stars – all of whom become suspects when a passenger (played by Johnny Depp) is murdered on a luxury train. That cast includes (deep breath) Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench, Olivia Colman, Leslie Odom Jr., (Josh Gad, Michelle Pfeiffer, Penelope Cruz.
It remains to be seen how faithful the film will remain to that famous Christie twist – especially as we’ve seen the story told plenty of times before, most memorably Sidney Lumet’s 1974 version.
Barring any replacement bus services getting in the way, Murder On The Orient Express pulls into the station on 3 November.
