It's been seven years since inventive director Miranda July brought her particular style to the screen with second outing The Future. She's finally back to make a new movie, and has recruited Evan Rachel Wood and Gina Rodriguez to star.
They'll lead a cast that also includes Richard Jenkins and Debra Winger for a new script written by July. It focuses on a woman named Old Dolio (Wood) whose life is upended when her parents (Jenkins and Winger), who fancy themselves as amateur con artists, invite a newcomer to be part of their latest heist. By a process of elimination, then, you can figure out that Rodriguez is the young woman who figures out the family's secrets and is brought into the fold.
July, who fills the time between filmmaking by writing essays and creating art, will kick off production on the untitled new film in May with the backing of Annapurna Pictures.
Wood returns to our screens for Westworld Season 2 (which just put a new trailer online), while Rodriguez recently signed on to play a live-action version of Carmen Sandiego.
