There has been a resurgence of late (though to be honest, when isn't there?) in well-worn concepts being considered again for new versions. That is continuing, even in France, as a big take on Alexandre Dumas’ The Three Musketeers is in the works with Eva Green, Vincent Cassel and Oliver Jackson-Cohen amongst the cast.
And this is not just one, but two movies now in pre-production: The Three Musketeers – D’Artagnan and The Three Musketeers – Milady, which will be directed simultaneously by Martin Bourboulon, working from scripts by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière. Could this be the Avengers double bill of French historical fiction? We'll have to make a note to talk about the portico scene.
The ensemble also includes Francois Civil, Vicky Krieps, Pio Marmaï, Duris, Louis Garrel and Lyna Khoudri. More will be announced in the coming weeks, employing the now traditional drip feed casting news release method.
