**The King Is Alive **director Kristian Levring is hard at work making his next film, Western themed drama The Salvation. He now has a solid cast lined up, including Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Michael Raymond-James.
They’re joining a cast that already includes recent Empire Pod-guest Jonathan Pryce, Mikael Persbrandt, Douglas Henshall and (ooh, ahh) Eric Cantona.
Adapted from Nordic sagas by Levring and Anders Thomas Jensen, The Salvation follows John (Mikkelsen), a settler whose family is murdered. Swearing revenge, he hunts down and kills the man responsible, but that act triggers a chain of violence as local gang leader Delarue brings the full might of his criminal associates down on John and his town.
Levring is shooting now in Johannesburg, but there’s no set release date for the movie yet. Green will next be seen in 300: Rise Of An Empire and Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Mikkelsen is currently on small screens as murderous psychopath Dr Lecter in Hannibal. Morgan will show up in The Adventures Of Beatle and The Rut and Raymond-James has** Road To Paloma** in post-production.
