Ethan Hawke Off To Vigilandia

It’s been a while since Gattaca, but Ethan Hawke clearly hasn’t lost his taste for futuristic fare. He cropped up in 2009’s vampire thriller Daybreakers and shot a small role in Len Wiseman’s Total Recall remake. He’s also just signed on low-budget pic Vigilandia.

With a little producing help from Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions and fellow low-budget genre house Platinum Dunes (prop. Michael Bay), James DeMonaco is getting ready to direct the film next month based on his own script.

Here is where we’d usually tell you something about what the film’s plot will be... Except that DeMonaco and the rest are keeping things tightly locked down, presumably so as not to spoil any of the AMAZING SECRETS hidden in that script. Such as the fact that Vigilandia is twinned with Milton Keynes! Okay, that’s probably not true. But we had to report something.

Hawke and DeMonaco aren’t new collaborators: the writer/director scripted the remake of Assault On Precinct 13 and the actor also appeared in his directorial debut, Little New York.

As well as Recall (which hits on August 22 over here), Hawke will be seen this year in Blum’s latest found footage drama, Sinister, due to arrive on August 24.
