Cinematic troublemaker and Human Centipede driving force Tom Six has never been above a bit of hype to keep people coming back for more of his weird humour and dark horrors. After enjoying the controversy around the UK release of the second film, he’s now turning a little more meta for the third, which is currently shooting. How meta? Try going all Hollywood – well, sort of – with a cast that now includes Eric Roberts.
Roberts might have an Oscar nomination under his belt, but Julia’s bro hasn’t exactly enjoyed the same A-list career even if he has carved out a successful cult niche. Carving seems on the cards in a different way given that the Human Centipede films so far have generally been about Dieter Laser’s mad scientist slicing into his victims and stitching them together in uncomfortable ways.
The third film – Final Sequence – has been on the cards for a while now, and was originally set to be shooting last year. But it’s currently lensing in California with a cast that also includes the returning Laurence R. Harvey plus Robert LaSardo, Bree Olson and Tommy “Tiny” Lister for an outing that is apparently set in a prison, and allegedly features a 500-person centipede. Because that’s what we were all begging for, right?
According to Six, who talked up the movie at Empire’s Big Screen in 2011, the third movie will “make the last one look like a Disney film. We’re going to shoot the third film entirely in America and it’s going to be my favourite. It’s going to upset a lot of people.” We know that the first bit came true. We’ll have to wait and see about the rest, but there’s no doubting it’ll make waves…
