Empire Podcast: The Mitchells Vs The Machines Spoiler Special Ft. Mike Rianda

The Mitchells Vs The Machines

The Mitchells Vs The Machines is one of the most delightful surprises of the year. Mike Rianda's animated movie about a robot apocalypse and the dysfunctional family who get in its way is daffy, heartfelt, gorgeous to look at and very, very funny. Now available on Netflix, the Phil Lord/Chris Miller-produced movie is so good that we gave it the full five-star treatment and moved very quickly to spoiler special the heck out of it.

So, in this episode you get an interview with Mike Rianda himself, who tells Ben Travis and Chris Hewitt all about the challenges that beset the production along the way, the giant Furby scene, and more. And then Ben and Chris stick around in the virtual podbooth and are joined by Helen O'Hara and Amon Warmann for an in-depth discussion of the movie that, in classic Empire Podcast tradition, also takes in Zoids and the Mandela Effect. We also answer as many listener questions as we can, and there's a bit of singing. Of course there is. There's always a bit of singing.

Let the dark harvest begin!
