Yipee-ki-yay! As if making the biggest movie magazine in the world wasn't enough, Empire have been busy behind-the-scenes working on a brand new occasional spin-off series. The Empire Classics series will offer a carefully curated celebration of the most iconic films and filmmakers in cinema history. The best of the best, basically. And the first in the series? The Greatest Action Movies Ever.

For this 130-page special edition, we zero in on 54 films that have come to define the action movie genre: from timeless irrefutable classics like Die Hard and Point Break; to historic adventures like Gladiator and Braveheart; to comic book heroes like The Dark Knight and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

“We’re really proud of this special issue," said Empire's fearless leader and editor-in-chief Terri White. "Inside, readers will find stories on the 54 finest movies known to man or womankind. Not just the finest action movies, the finest movies. They’re the films that make us laugh, cry and wince. Every single one of them containing expertly crafted action sequences, be they fistfights, car chases or a man shooting a giant fish in the face. There’s truly something for everyone.”
