Hilary Swank already has two Oscars classing up her mantelpiece (though for all we know, she might keep them in the loo). It appears she has her eye on another, signing on to play a woman suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease in You’re Not you. She’ll get some able support from Emmy Rossum.

Shana Feste and Jordan Roberts have written the script, adapted from Michelle Wildgen’s book. The plot sees an aimless, self-absorbed college student finding some direction in life when she gets a part-time job caring for Swank’s character. We’d expect both tears and learning from this one.

George C Wolfe, who has directed the likes of Nights In Rodanthe and a fair number of plays, is aboard to call the shots starting next month in LA.

Swank most recently appeared in **New Year’s Eve **and will make You're Not You as her next film. Rossum shot young adult adaptation Beautiful Creatures this year (it arrives February 13) and stars on the US version of Shameless, which will kick off its third season across the pond in January.
