Liam Neeson is sticking with the revenge game for the new thriller Hard Powder, which should surprise exactly nobody. And now we know the first person who will join him in the cast, as Emmy Rossum has made a deal to appear.

Based on 2014's Norwegian original In Order Of Disappearance, the film finds Neeson as Nels, an upstanding snowplow driver and recipient of Citizen Of The Year prize from his swanky Colorado ski town. But when his son his murdered by a local drug kingpin, a switch flips inside our hero and he goes on a rampage. "Fuelled by an unwavering drive for vengeance and armed with heavy machinery, this unlikely hero sets out to dismantle the cartel with extreme prejudice, and he’s not stopping until he gets to the top of the food chain," says the synopsis, and he'll be up against a well-dressed, vegan Native American mafia boss who drives a Tesla but is only too happy murdering people. As for Rossum's character, there are no details yet, but she better hope she's not his daughter... Bad things still clearly happen to the family members of Neeson characters.

The original film's director, Hans Petter Moland, will be back behind the camera for this one, with writer Frank Baldwin providing the script.

Rossum has worked on National Lampoon biopic A Futile & Stupid Gesture and, after directing an episode of her current series, Shameless, has called the shots for two instalments for the new season of the Animal Kingdom TV adaptation.
