What can we tell you about Alejandro Amenábar’s dip back into thriller territory with Regression? Well, so far what we know is that Ethan Hawke will be one of the leads, and it won’t be a one-man gig, because Emma Watson is now set to co-star.
Sadly, we cannot say what this “elevated genre project” will actually be about, but given that title we’d have to guess that there will be some head trips going on, all flavoured with Amenábar’s nuanced writing and ability to surprise.
So why don’t we hear from what the new arrival and her director have to say about working together? Think they’re thrilled? You’re not wrong… “I am passionate about Alejandro and his work and am so happy to be collaborating with him,” Watson tells The Wrap. “I’m really excited by the challenge my character presents to me as an actress. I can’t wait to begin.”
“Emma is a beautiful, humane, sensitive and very talented woman, and I feel very fortunate to be working with her. I’m sure that her long-standing stellar career has barely begun,” says Amenábar. Presumably he’ll resist the temptation to grill her about his favourite scenes from the Potter franchise, or whether she thinks Hermione should have ended up with Ron.
Watson will next be seen in Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical epic Noah, out here on April 4. She’s also attached to indie drama Your Voice In My Head.
