We’ve known for a few months now that Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel and Evan Goldberg plan to turn comedy trailer Jay & Seth Vs. The Apocalypse into a full-fledged disaster / horror / comedy. With the film now titled End Of The World, the trio is adding yet more names to an already bulging cast, with Emma Watson, Jason Segel and David Krumholtz all agreeing to cameo as themselves.
As you might suspect from the title, the film’s basic concept has Rogen and Baruchel playing themselves, holed up in a damaged apartment as the world crumbles around them.
The cast also boasts pals James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson, all playing themselves and all stuck at Franco’s place, which we figure will become uncomfortable quickly. Word is that not everyone will survive to the end…
Segel and Rogen are, of course, old pals and regular Judd Apatow collaborators stretching back to the days of Freaks And Geeks and Undeclared, which featured appearances from Krumholtz, who has also shown up in several Apatow films.
Watson is more of a leftfield choice, but she’s been happy to embrace comedy. And she’s also in Los Angeles, at work on Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring, so it’s not much of a commute. She's not the first Potter alum to be associated with this film: there were rumours of Daniel Radcliffe's involvement back last year, which ended up coming to nothing.
Rogen and regular writing / producing partner Goldberg wrote the script and are co-directing the movie, which is filming now and is set for Stateside release in June 2013. To get an idea for the likely flavour of the film, take a look at the original Apocalypse trailer below. We'll officially pitch one tagline for them right now: "It's the end of the world as they know it.... And they feel high." Cheque please!
