There’s such an easy joke to be made about the idea that a Beauty And The Beast starring Emma Watson could be the story of Ron and Hermione’s married life, but A) we’re not that mean and B) **H****arry Potter **is over and done with (for now). But it would certainly appear that Watson is looking at keeping those post-Potter jobs flowing, as producer Denise Di Novi has told the gang at Coming Soon that the actress is lined up to star in a new version of the fairy tale.
So far, very little is known, since all Di Novi could drop at the junket for the new Steve Carell comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love was the fact that Watson is lined up to star and the endlessly multi-tasking Guillermo del Toro will be overseeing the film as a producer. Because he was probably getting bored only working up Pacific Rim and sticking his producing fingers in 70,000 other movie pies.
Beauty, of course, will be just the latest screen adaptation of the tale, which finds a girl falling for a hairy critter who turns out to be a prince languishing under a curse. It’ll be interesting to see whether another film can find a fresh take on the story, and not turn out as bad as, say, Beastly…
