Team Marvel – which in this case also includes directors Joe and Anthony Russo – has been on the hunt for Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s female lead for some time. It appears they may have found her, as Emily VanCamp is now in talks to co-star in the movie.

VanCamp comes firmly from within the Disney/ABC family, and she’s already the lead on the latter network’s soapy drama Revenge.

**The Winter Soldier **will find Cap (Chris Evans) still dealing with life in modern day America, adapting to the new world after the events of The Avengers. Though Deadline’s report makes no mention of her character’s name, the current feeling is that VanCamp will be Sharon Carter, a descendent of Peggy Carter, Cap’s World War II love interest, as played in the original by Hayley Atwell.

Atwell’s not returning for this one, though Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones and Samuel L Jackson are all back, along with newcomers Anthony Mackie (as Falcon) and Joe Grillo (as Crossbones). Scarlett Johansson may also crop up to lend a hand as Black Widow.

While the plot is still largely under wraps, the title and the presence of Stan points to a resurrected Bucky returning as a super assassin known as the Winter Soldier.

With the Russos calling the shots and a script from Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set to arrive on April 4, 2014.
