Having detoured into thriller territory for A Simple Favour, Paul Feig returns to out-and-out comedy (though with some chances for drama) for Last Christmas, which finds him in a festive mood with a side order of Wham!/George Michael music. The first trailer for the film has arrived and you can watch it below.
Emilia Clarke stars as Kate, a young woman subscribed to bad decisions. Her last date with disaster? That of having accepted to work as Santa's elf for a department store. However, that's where she meets Tom (Crazy Rich Asians' Henry Golding). Her life takes a new turn, and for Kate, it seems too good to be true. Can she navigate this surprising new romance?
Boasting a script by Bryony Kimmings and Emma Thompson (who also crops up in the cast), the movie also features Ingrid Oliver, Sue Perkins, Patti LuPone and Michelle Yeoh. Last Christmas is due to arrive on 15 November here, which seems early for Xmas, but you know the supermarkets will have had festive goodies on the shelves for months already. We talked to Feig about the film, his love of Richard Curtis movies and more here.
