Elodie Yung as Elektra in Daredevil

Last seen – spoiler alert for those who haven't watched Daredevil Season 2 – being saved from death by The Hand, Elodie Yung's complicated warrior woman Elektra will be part of the cast for The Defenders.

Exactly how she'll take part remains to be seen – she was revealed to be villainous organisation The Hand's super weapon, known as Black Sky, so she may well be causing more trouble for our heroes. Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), of course, already knows she can be a problem, what with their on-again, off-again, sometimes-she-tries-to-kill-him relationship.

The Hand will be one of the big main threats of the miniseries, which will see Daredevil trying to co-exist with Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and still-to-be-introduced fourth Defender Iron Fist (Finn Jones.) But we do know that Sigourney Weaver will have, er, a hand in the danger being posed. Plus, with the eight episodes already shooting, Simone Missick's Misty Knight has been spotted on set. We'd also expect the likes of castmembers Scott Glenn, Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville and Rachael Taylor to make appearances. And Rosario Dawson, of course, because you can't have a Defenders series without their connective tissue.

With Iron Fist due on 17 March, The Defenders is set to follow later in 2017.
