This year marks the 35th anniversary of **Alien, *and to mark the occasion Ridley Scott’s slice of space terror is getting a new range of toys, merchandise, video games and comic books. The Hollywood Reporter has grabbed hold of this concept art for a new Ripley action figure. It’ll mostly come in a big box… mostly. Keen collectors note, it’s not just Nostromo-era Ripley that will be getting this treatment. The National Entertainment Collectibles Association – NECA in its fully acronymed state – has worked with 20th Century Fox's consumer division to put out figures from this Nostromo jumpsuited Ripley to an Aliens-era version, hopefully with accompanying power loader.
**Alien **plushies and bobbleheads will also appear on shelves, the latter putting the ‘Morph’ into ‘xenomorph’, joining the already-announced Alien: Isolation video game and Dark Horse’s Alien, **Prometheus **and **Predator **comic books in the jamboree. There’ll be replica props, costumes and Alien: Archive, a literary look back at the whole franchise, with fresh interviews with Scott and his star.
“As we celebrate the 35th anniversary of one of the most successful film franchises of all time, we are thrilled to introduce an array of commemorative products across different categories in partnership with iconic brands including NECA, SEGA and many more,” Jeffrey Godsick, president of Fox Consumer Products, explained of the new merchandise.
“Hardcore fans can finally add Lieutenant Ellen Ripley to their Alien collections as we welcome her NECA figures into the family of officially-licensed merchandise. Many other exciting first-time and limited edition products will also release to celebrate this exciting milestone this year.”
Comic-Con'ers will get a first look at all the new newness in San Diego this July. **Empire **will be there to report back.
The veteran collector will know that this isn't the first replica Ripley. Kenner launched this amazing-looking line back in 1979.
