Ellen Page Off To Rome For Woody Allen

Just a couple of days ago, it was revealed that Woody Allen had snagged Alec Baldwin to star in his next planned movie, an untitled film that will shoot in Rome this summer. Mentioned in that same report was word that Allen had been talking to Jessie Eisenberg about a role. Now it appears he not only got Eisenberg, but Ellen Page will join the movie.

The three of them will join Allen veteran Penelope Cruz, who last worked with the director on Vicky Christina Barcelona. As for what the thing will be about? It’s anyone’s guess, as the details beside the city locale are, as usual, known only to Woody and his team. We predict some romance and probably a fair bit of drama.

Eisenberg, of course, is coming off his Oscar-nominated role in The Social Network, and can be heard in CG bird 'toon Rio right now. 30 Rock regular Baldwin is getting set to belt out ‘80s tunes for Rock of Ages before he heads off to Rome. Cruz will next be seen sparring with Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Page was last featured in Inception and she’s appearing across the pond in James Gunn’s twisted superhero tale SUPER, which we’re still hoping gets a UK release.

The big question of course is: Allen has Jessie Eisenberg, Penelope Cruz, Alec Baldwin and Ellen Page in his cast now. Which one of them could possibly be playing the Woody substitute for this film? Our money’s on Penelope.
