The Neon Demon, the next vividly-imagined kinda-thriller from Drive man Nicolas Winding Refn, edges even closer to the big-screen with the appearance of a new TV Spot. The director offers hints of both the neon and the demonic in this new spot. Click below to bathe in its high-gloss visuals.

Taking Drive’s stylised pizzazz and Only God Forgives’s unsettling undercurrents in a bold, Giallo-ish new direction, Refn upping the ante with his latest. It’s set in the superficial, choppy waters of LA's modelling scene, a world of vampire-like figures and ruthless aspiration that Elle Fanning’s newbie has to navigate solo. And this is really not a town to be a newbie in.

Fanning plays aspiring model Jesse, whose naive beauty provokes jealousy from the vampiric, beauty-obsessed types who jostle for the attention she seems to get effortlessly. As the film’s tagline reads: “Beauty is vicious.”

Also starring are Christina Hendricks, Jena Malone, Bella Heathcote and Mad Max: Fury Road alumni Abbey Lee, while Keanu Reeves pitches up as the world’s dodgiest motel manager and a cougar appears as, well, a cougar.

The Neon Demon hits cinemas on July 1. Tune in to next week’s podcast for chats with Refn and his star.
