Elizabeth Olsen Teases 1950s Influence On WandaVision

Captain America: Civil War

While the entire world is focused on Avengers: Endgame, the bods at Marvel are currently cooking up a whole load of new Disney+ streaming series in a top-secret lab. There’s Loki and Falcon And The Winter Soldier on the horizon, plus it was recently announced that the Scarlet Witch and Vision series has a kooky title: WandaVision. If that jaunty name has altered your perception of what a superhero show starring those two might look like, Elizabeth Olsen has teased another potentially fascinating tidbit.

“There’s quite a few other comic books that we’re pulling from. It’s going to be Wanda and the Vision, and I think at the Disney+ launch chat they showed a photo of us in the ‘50s,” she told Variety on the Endgame purple carpet. “I think that’s a good teaser. It’s going to be really fun, I’m really excited.” She added that the series is due to shoot in the autumn, and will amount to six hours of material – though it’s unconfirmed how many episodes that will break down into.

Talk of a 1950s image throws up plenty of questions – is this an alt-universe show, unconnected from the mainline MCU? Is it a ‘50s-inspired domestic sitcom exploring Wanda and Vision’s attempts at normal life prior to Infinity War? As far as we’re aware, the image Olsen alludes to wasn’t actually released during the Disney+ panel, so there’s no visual reference point for this yet. Still, with a production start now revealed, it sounds like this one could come to Disney’s upcoming streaming service at some point in 2020.
