She’s spent years in the shadow of siblings Mary-Kate and Ashley, but now is most definitely the time for Elizabeth Olsen, who is winning plenty of praise (including from our Damon, who is reporting in from the festival) for Sundance pic Martha Marcy May Marlene. And now she’s just signed on for her biggest project yet, the thriller Red Lights, which will see her on screen with Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver and Cillian Murphy.
Directed by Buried’s Rodrigo Cortes, Red Lights follows a psychology professor (Weaver) whose investigations into strange activity lead her to track down a renowned psychic (De Niro).
Olsen will be playing Weaver’s assistant, a student of the professor who helps with her probing into the unknown, while also falling for Cillian Murphy’s character.
The actress is something of a psychology junkie herself, and is actually studying it at New York University – though she’ll take a break to shoot when production gears up next month.
Along with Martha… Olsen also has horror film Silent House playing at Sundance and the Jeffrey Dean Morgan/Catherine Keener comedy drama Peace, Love & Misunderstanding set to appear this year. Looks like she could end up eclipsing both her sisters when it comes to acting…
